M.A. Journalism & Mass Communication

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (DJMC) was established in the year 2008.The mission of the Department is to contribute to the enrichment of media education and research in consonance with the demands of the industry and society at large by equipping the students with competent academic, professional and life skills. In view of the meteoric rise and vast expansion of mass media, Post Graduation course has been restructured to meet the new trends in the media field. The course is taught in four semester spread into two years. The important areas taught in these two years are Television and radio production, post production, news gathering, new media, advertising, science communication, Media Laws, Public Relations and so on. Since the inception, the Department has trained many students hailing from the remote rural pockets and some of the alumnus of the Department has excelled in the areas such as, news and entertainment channels, radio stations, advertising and corporate communication and production houses along with education field. It is also offering M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes with an aim to be an academic location for the development of a critical understanding about media and its engagement with society, culture, polity and economy.
